I’m Becki O’Brien and I am a self taught cook, natural foods expert, Human Nutrition & Foods student, and yoga teacher living in Houston, Texas. After opening two popular juice and smoothie bars in the Houston area and running a local farmers market, I’ve recently decided to go back to school for a second degree in nutrition and to pursue my Registered Dietitian certification. My philosophy is simple: cook with real ingredients, keep it simple and make it taste good. If I can help it, I’ll make it look good, too.
On this blog, you’ll find tried and true recipes as well as new experiments, product reviews, food and fitness tips and tricks, as well as my daily musings and ramblings. My cooking, just like anything else, is in constant evolution and I’m always trying and learning new things. Heck, as of six months ago, I was a full fledged vegan and am now cooking, eating and enjoying sustainably raised animal products after over seven years of abstaining. I still absolutely adore and eat an absurd amount of vegetables. I don’t ascribe to one particular diet or another, I cook what makes me feel my best in that moment, using the best possible ingredients. I promise to share what I learn along the way!
